okay after class today i was like "yo i need a nap" especially since i didn't get home from studio until 3:30. and this is what happened:

so my GSI (but i think they only call them that in Berkeley...you know, a T.A.) for my studio class was taking us on a field trip to look at these dolphins. and we went into this one man's backyard, which was set up like a shamu stadium...so legitimate. and then we entered this pool of water and out came these two dolphins. and they were so different. one was like furry and blue-grey and had a short nose and had the letter "C" carved into its side. and the other one was smaller and light grey and really rather forgettable. anyway, our class was talking and there was this one guy who's last name is "Wong," so i had always pronounced it as "wong." but everyone was giving me uneasy looks and i was like "heh?" and then finally this man who's family name is the subject was like "i'm sorry, please stop. my last name is not pronounced 'wong,' it's pronounced 'huh-win'" so i'm like 'ope. my bad' but he goes on to explain how it's highly offensive that i didn't know how to pronounce his last name because there are two different kind of Wongs in the world...those that pronounce it "wong"...and they the good ones. and the "huh-wins" who are like savage people who hop on clouds....

BIZARRRE!

and "an hour of hip shakin' can burn about 55 calories"....i have never heard of anyone who takes an hour to get dressed in the morning. but maybe listening to upbeat (not downbeat) makes the whole process of getting dressed so enjoyable you can't help but spend an hour "shakin' your hips"

i'm pretty sure i've told a lot of people, but the other day i got to see Wicked again!

i was with nina that day and earlier we tried to go to the Academy of Sciences using my dad's membership card. but it took me a while to decide whether or not to say i was Randall (and when they would ask for my ID i'd say i left it at home) or if i should tell the truth (overrated) and say i'm randall's son. so i chose The Truth and basically lady denied entrance. rude beezy. why she gotta do her job like that. so feeling unlucky, we went to do other touristy things. like ghiradelli square. and city hall (which has legitimate bathrooms). and then at 5:30 we went to the orpheum to enter the wicked drawing.

so you write your name on a sheet of paper, and you put it into this uhh...raffle machine? so we crumpled our papers and then flattened them to give them more bulk and dropped them in. and i turn around and who do i see? cindy chan and jeannie sun of cornerstone trinity baptist church! so i yell kinda loudly "JEANNIE SUN!" and good times ensue...for example, there was one man who just straight up lied down on the floor and took a nap. so we made fun of him.

then they called my name! i was quite surprised. so we all yelled pretty loud. then i got my tickets. but jeannie and cindy didn't get called...which was sad. i was looking forward to seeing it with them. but they went "clubbin" instead, so they had a nice night too. haha

so our seats were for row C seats 5 and 7, and that was the second row (even though it was "C") on the left. and yeah, it was limited view, but i think the only things you couldn't see were the things that happened deeper on the stage. i think i liked this performance of Wicked the best because i think i have appreciation for detail (in costumes and facial expressions) and kinda behind-the-scenes things. so it was cool because we got to see the performers up close (we waved at them whenever they came to our side of the stage...but in a subtle way) and our angle also let us see into the wings. which i REALLY liked. i think it's pretty cool thinking about uhh theater magic and how the props glide in and out as if on they own! and you could see characters skip off stage in character until they know they're not visible then they walk and look tired. and the Roadies (? or stage hands?) they get into it too...one of them was dancing to the music in the most not-cool way. sigh...if i wasn't doing kcdc i'd apply to be a Roady.

it was a good day.

and in Wicked they speak in this really weird language that i really like...i'm going to try to copy it. for example, fortunution = fortune.

the following is a real-life occurrence that is completely non-fictional. i also realize that it is a rant about a burrito joint, but i can deal with such (and so should you):

the day is: june 2, 2009

the time is: approx 4:15 in the afternoon

the weather is: sunny with patchy clouds, moderate temperature

the location is: Chipotle at westlake shopping centah, daly city

my people, i am in the mood for some chipotle! if i was at berkeley i would've just gone to telegraph and gotten a nice lil burrito bowl and a free drank! but back home i had to drive to the closest chipotle at westlake...it's kinda new. my mom also wanted a burrito bowl so when i got to the counter, i say:

"hi i'd like two burrito bowls"

then the chipotle man says:

"alright, for here or to go?"

"to go"

"okay. what kind of beans?"

"oh no beans in one of them and black beans in the other"

"okay. oh, excuse me John can we get more rice. yeah, more rice...rice... yeha okay so what kind of meat can i get for you"

"um carne asada in the bowl with the beans and chicken in the other"

and then homey proceeds to put chicken in both of them...but i let it slide cause i felt bad and he'd have to start assembling the beaned burrito bowl all over again

"alright and what else do you want in them?"

"uhh in the one with the beans can i get tomato salsa, corn salsa, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, guac. and the same thing in the other one except no sour cream"

"okay...so you wanted hot sauce in the second one?"

"oh no.....i meant no sour cream"

"okay. and it was steak in both of these, yah?"

"oh no, they're actually both chicken"

so he puts the foil lid on them and writes a big S on both of them...and i'm confused and didn't want to correct him cause what if in chipotle language, "S" means "chicken?"...you never know.

so the cashier says:

"alright two steak bowls to go?"

"oh actually they're chicken"

"oh really? how comes it says S"

"yeah i don't really know...i just told that man that they were chicken. you can ask him if you want"

"oh no. fine by me...as long as you aren't lying to me, then everything's cool"

"yeah i'm not lying"

"alright! have a grand day then"

but i could see through his falsitudes! homeboy thought i was lying!

alright, bottom lines: i was having communication issues. i prefer berkeley chipotle over westlake chipotle. i feel the need to express myself through childish rants via weblog.

and such is my life thus far this summer

haha just kidding, life is good. i gave myself a haircut today so i might be lookin kinda funky for a few weeks...i can't really tell if my hair is even or not.

it is the summertime!

i ended school maybe two weeks ago actually...it's been quite productive so far! let us see. i: moved out of the dorms, hung out in cupertino, CA, saw Wicked, went on a retreat with IV in Challenge, CA (at some bougie campgrounds that had their very own blob, zipline, kayaks, and see-through shower doors), and i have yet to clean my room/finish moving back in.

so that brings me to my Summer List, which i've never had before!

o. rent from netflix and watch such great movies like: recess, the power rangers movie, the first season of pokemon, finding neverland, i am sam, zoolander, and maybe some other things

1. keep a journal...doodling things, talking to jesus, writing down thoughts

2. become better friends with my dog (maybe i'll teach her a trick...like to blink on command)

3. pull the 6-foot dandelion weeds in my backyard. holla

4. go work out or do something active each day

5. choreograph something

6. learn how to use my family's DVR

7. win the wicked front-row lottery

8. go to pinkberry

9. learn to give myself a haircut

10. go karaoking

11. read 'omnivore's dilemma' and finish 'crazy love' (i aim high)

12. learn to cook for next year...aye aye aye

and now some more longer-goal dreams

1. learn to harmonize

2. learn to isolate my eyebrows and do the wave with them

3. meet someone and talk to them in an accent and convince them i'm from some foreign land

it's kinda a boring, weird list. that's why i made it different colors, to create the illusion that it was exciting. sorry for deceiveries

i guess this post is a little late, since i started a draft of it last friday but never finished it until now.

but lemme give you a timeline of last week.

on thursday was our last bible study so we were gonna grill some grade A+ steaks at matt's house and have a feast. but the day before i got an email from abba modern. because the seniors of abba modern were gonna perform at friday's large group (since it was like a senior send-off), and they wanted to incorporate the non-senior IV members into the dance too (so that it'd be like "we are the next generation" kinda deal)...that's complicated. but anyway, the practice was gonna be on thursday but that was the same night as bible study celebration extravaganza! but they said abba modern practice would only take an hour, so i left bible study early. but instead of taking one hour, it took four. and time really just went by fast and before you know it it was midnight and i was feeling pretty guilty for ditching bible study...so i called matt and he said they saved me food and that if i was hungry i should come back. so i thought it'd just be me and him eating some food, but it turns out my entire small group still waited up and was chillin at matt's apartment still. and they played vijjeo games while i ate the food, which was still good even though the steaks weren't fresh off the girl (don't worry matthew, even though you don't read this weblog). and it was a pretty fun time. especially christina, who was running on like 2 hours of sleep, who played a pretty weird game of nba 2k9, but was funny. and then amber had some ridiculous "push ups"....but end of story is, i felt mad, unexpected love right then and there.

so...for the last bit of spring break i went to vegaritas with my familia cause a certain someone done turned 21.

so here we is on the aeroplane. we flew virgin america for the first time...i liked it! they have clubbin mood lights and play lounge music!

that is douglas before two random girls sat next to him and started clappin along to the beats.

then we arrive at the hotel lobby. and take a forced picture in front of this golden statue with gilded woman's frontal parts (sorry, RKJ)

oh! i didn't include it and i'm too lazy to add it, but then this random guy with an accordion came over to serenade douglas.

then eating stop #1, this legit restaurant in the middle of the venetian casino called Noodle Asia. so random. but so delizzious. i had these spicy beef soup noodle that burned my lips like crazy but i could not resist that brothy magic.

then we got some gelato up in there! i feel bad for the untouched flavors

then we took tourist photos in front of random waterfalls

and found T.I.

went to the buffet @ the Wynn. which was my favorite eating spot...especially because no one's there to judge me and my 8 plates.

like Crossroads...but kinda a lot more better

and i gained some pounds!

when i was younger i used to wear this shirt that said "No Fear"...and yees, that is me a la izquierda...and yees, i was a wee bit chubster back then...dun be jealous! anyway, let's talk about fear slash no fear.

my people, i, too, want to know the knowledge of His will, because i am more than thoroughly convinced that I am definitely in the middle of a lesson learned.

you will probably remember 'essay time,' especially since it was only written two days ago...which is good since this is basically part two.

SO, the day is sunday, and i'm coming home early in the morning to go to church. i'm taking BART back with my homey, who just so happened to be present at la burrita during said events of 'essay time,' and when we're waiting for the bart train, these four gangsters come over and start messing with us. basically they're like "where you from..." "i know you can't be from berkeley cause I am from berkeley" etcetchera etcetchera... so when the train comes they don't get into the same car as us so i'm like "whoo, relief" so we go sit down in these seats that i thought would be safe, since there were a lot of people in that area. but...negatchory. they come into our car and surround us and start messing with us. one of them sits in front of me, turns around and like puts his hand on the lump my cell phone is making in my jeans pocket and i'm like "it's over, i'm dead and in heaven." then one of them goes to my friend and is like "what you got in your pockets" and he starts jiggling his belt as if he got a gun stashed under there...and the true azn gangster i'm with says "nothing for you" in an excellently intimidating tone that would've made me laugh under any other circumstance. luckily*, all of this is going down right as we're about to pull into the next station, so we get up and go to leave. then one of them puts his hand into my butt pocket and grabs my wallet...and i really should've let him just take it, but instead i like turned around said "excuse me" and yanked the wallet back...oh man i could've just died. so we get off the train and i'm pretty surprised they don't follow us. so we're unscathed, but i'm mildly/very shaken up and like "what the why............it's only 8:30...the gangsters should be getting they rest right about now!" so to wrap up this juicy anecdote, we make it back into the city all safe and sound, and we're physically unhurt afterwards...the whole situation ended much better than i thought it could've.

so what are the chances that mastersamuel has encounters with shady characters twice in one weekend?!?! especially when they've never happened befo'? i don't know the chances, but i do know that it happened on purpose. see...i was supposed to meet my friend at a bus stop to catch the bus to the bart station, but i took too long to, i dunno, put on my contacts, so i made us miss that bus...if we had made it, would we have eluded said almost-mugging? i'm not sure.

but anyway, when we got off the bart train we waited for the next one and i'm standing next to this pillar where someone graffitied the phrase "fear is a lie" next to this telephone.

and i'm just like......"WHAT MY WORD!" definitely, without a doubt, a sign. and then i remember, from teaching this verse like three summers at kcdc:

"do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the lord your god will be with you wherever you go" joshua1:9b

such truths! God was def with us...for one, we didn't actually get mugged (although it felt like we did), we got out safely, and God definitely allowed me to learn from this situation.

so was God teaching me just to not fear...to face a frikkin scary sitch and in the middle of that, feel no fear? that's kinda difficult, yo. but again, i'm not sure...i'm asking Him to reveal his will to me...see what he wants me to take from this.

cause i'm pretty sure there could be other lessons taken from this incident.

afterwards, i was definitely glad i was with somebody...and during the rest of our trip back home i tried to put us in the middle of a lot of people...is God emphasizing the importance of company to me? the security when you can surround yourself in others?

or is he teaching me a lesson about blending in...when we were alone in the bart station we were easy targets...the only ones there (except for this one homegirl on a bike, who i thought would stick with us so we could stay safe in numbers...but instead she bounced once she saw the gangStarz....which is a good thing i guess because i was semi-tempted to thieve her bike and get out of there with a quickness)....but if we hid amongst others we'd def be safe. is god saying: when you were alone and exposed and vulnerable you def went through some hardships, and a difficult and uncomfortable experience, but in the end you learned from it and you came out of this tribulation stronger...but when you bury yourself in the crowd and hide behind others, sure you'll be comfortable and safe but you won't learn through experience...?

i'm not sure.

all i know, is that it was one KLAYZIE weekend and God deserves some surrrious praise for taking us through it safely. oooh to the whee....things be crazy!

if i experience a third strike in this Showdown Series, imma transfer! berkeley you one crazy place!

aite, this is gonna take a long time to read. so here's some mood music:

Last night at intervarsity large group, the speaker delivered a message about shame and inadequacy…how Jesus takes something we’d consider shameful and transforms it into something that glorifies him. He referenced john 2:1-11, a story in which a family runs out of wine at a wedding (meaning they overestimated their abilities to supply for a party) but homeboy Jesus transforms water into wine and saves them from public humiliation. But the bigger message is that in the big picture, Jesus steps in and turns our insecurrrities into glorifying lessons.

At the time, I didn’t think much of the message. Maybe a couple of weeks ago there was a message that I felt applied to events I had already experienced…but last night I found the message to be applicable to something that happened after the message was delivered…if that makes sense.

so after large group we played Munchkin, this nerdtastic game that can get really exciting and hurt people’s feelings…it’s great. Afterwards, a couple of us went to get some food at la burrita whereupon we basically witnessed this vocalized tussle between this loudmouthed, ignorant fool and some other dude. So we’re waiting for our food and basically the instigator of this smackdown starts addressing us…and for the most part I’m feigning deafness and ignoring him…but there was definitely a point where my heart started beating faster and I could feel my anxiety sweats kicking in…basically all my fight or flight instincts. Anyway, the logistics of the throwdown is not the focus of this essay, so imma end the story there.

Basically afterwards I couldn’t sleep and I was just lying in my bed thinking…and that’s when the shame and inadequacy message kicked in.

See, I feel like if anyone else were in my position during the situation, they’d be focusing on self-restraint, making sure they wouldn’t lose they cool and immediately knock out the said loud man. But, honestly, I wasn’t. I don’t get angry…Someone asked me when the last time I got angry was…and the last time I got sincerely angry is when one of the 7-year olds at day camp made fun of another kid…kinda inane, yeah? I think most people would say it’s “good” to be quick to listen and slow to anger, but when I think about my own hesitation, I’ve always viewed it as cowardice. That, unlike most guys, I’d be scared in a fight. I can think of three significant confrontations where violence seemed imminent and in all of them, I feel like I was never the first one to step in. first, in sophomore year I was at a party when shoving started happening and then when one side started mentioning the guns they were about to bust out, I was just about ready to up and leave that place. Then, maybe two weeks later my family was walking back to our car after a Chinese new year dinner and this car almost backed up into my little cousin…so our uncle is yelling at the driver and he’s yelling back and people are holding people back… now, don’t get me wrong…if a fight were ever to break out, I’d for sure jump in and bust out some capoeira slash green-belt tae-kwon-do SKILLZ with a capital S-K-I-L-L-Z…cause I got your back like that… but I avoid violence until it becomes a self defense kinda thang.

Okay, so back to shame and inadequacy….so as I’m lying in bed thinking of these things, I just felt ashamed…cause in my mind I was not fitting the mold of the Protector I feel like the world wants all guys to be…and it’s been a kind of common thread in my life…not fitting the mold, that is.

I wrote one of my college personal statements on it:

“Thursdays meant basketball practice. Therefore, Thursdays were a day to dread. It was apparent that even as a little kid, I lacked the bare-minimum skill that even peewee basketball required. And still, I endured six years of being benched, yelled at, and humiliated. Evidently, my “effort” wasn’t enough. I was certain that in order to live up to my fabricated image of boyhood I had to train myself to become an athlete. Basketball brought me no satisfaction, yet I was determined to prove I was athletically adept.

However, my family eventually stepped in to show me my dream’s hollow nature. When I was in middle school, they confessed they could see me beating myself up for something they knew I didn’t want. They explained that I did not have to fit a certain mold or live up to a particular standard in order to be content. The bottom line was that if I were forced to do something I didn’t enjoy, it would be meaningless. I finally quit basketball and immediately felt relieved and unburdened……” then it goes into some lame conclusion that’s irrelevant.

Yeah…when I was growing up I felt like such an unconventional boy. My brother played with the GI Joes and watched batman on Saturday mornings, I think I had animal figurines (holla!). and I always thought my relatives found it odd when I told them I stopped playing basketball and started dancing… I knew what made me happy and I stuck with it, but I was aware that I was going against the grain.

And that’s where Jesus steps in. He says “MasterSamuel, YOU is my beloved.” in past weeks I’ve begun to realize that we don’t need to prove anything to anybody. We studied the passage about Jesus’s temptation, and he did not need to complete any of Satan’s challenges to prove He was the Son of God. During his baptism, He was acknowledged by God as His Son, whom He loves (Jesus hadn’t even started his ministry yet, hadn’t done anything visibly miraculous, I don’t think…and still God done love him)….and that’s enough. It’s enough for me too! God does not need us to do anything to prove our worth…i don’t need to get into the college i think i need to go to, or get into a dance crew, or gospel choir, or get re-elected for student council (oooh wee that was a tough time though), or be anything I thought I needed to be. I am God’s beloved creation, and that’s enough. And when we sometimes think it isn’t enough, and are feeling crummy about things, Jesus steps in and trades our shame and sorrow for something better – Him!

So I know this may come off as either a) incoherent or b) preachy, so I apologize. I’m pretty sure I didn’t articulate everything as clearly as I would’ve hoped to…that’s why I only bust out the Cry Me a River essays every now and then.

GOD, WHY YOU SO EGGZELLENT FOR?

you know i've always been up front with you about my nose bleeds. exhibit a.

that is why after what i just experienced, i felt an urgency to share with you my story.

so check it, i'm taking a shower...the radio's on, my lather is all up in my unfortunate haircut...basically, life is good. then i feel saltiness in my mouth so i open it and all of a sudden this huge dollop of bloody saliva comes spewing

out and trickles down my six-pack in a mottled river of alluvial crimson. yikes, right!

so at first i seriously thought i was dying cause i thought the blood was coming from inside my mouth...as if i developed some phantom hemorrhage behind my buck teeth. but really it was coming from my nose...crazy!

i had to lean forward and pinch my nose for it to stop...wasted about 3 extra minutes of shower water! my b, earth!

point of the story: enjoy life. don't freak out when fatty ploppets (is that a word) of blood exit your body at random moments.

possibly one of the most productive fridays i've had in a while...i woke up at about 10ish and went to the RSF at berkeley to play...basketball. yee, i know...you're jealous, impressed, and confused at the same time. i haven't touched a basketball since my 17th birthday (vivid memory) and haven't played basketball since middle school...so that was ridiculous.

later on we went the the pre-audition workshop for movement...it was pretty fun. hard, but fun.

then oliver, aaron, amber, and i had to shower quickstyle and get on bart to come back to san francisco...ernest picked us up and after getting a delizzious meal at nation's, we went to church for the ck1+college freshman combo...we had a photo scavenger hunt at pier39...i was quite convinced we were gonna ace that thang but we ended up not even placing...outrageous.

afterwards, they all came to the go casa where wii was played and heavyweights was disrespected (since all of us fell asleep during it...rude)

i like to reminisce...so as i was facebook stalking myself this morning (be jealous), oh boy...came upon some good memories!

and these picturas helped me remember things that i had previously forgotten! so now i share.

chapter 1: senior trip | 06.08

i think this is when winch, jeff, and chris went to the safeway that was maybe a half hour away...so we decided to play some sardines. and we were all in the garage and i found some febreeze, and nevin was in the bathroom with two chicks or something scandalous like that (watch yourself, nevster), and we tried to scare winch, jeff, and chris when they came back...but that didn't happen. and remember even before this at costco when tina demanded nevin to get him a hot dog? whipped, nevStar!

chapter 2: marine whirled | 08.08

remember when chris found that bucket on the table outside the funnel shop so he decided to take it and then an angry mom came back calling him out for stealing her son's bucket. and when we were on the rapid ride and those homies sprayed us with water...so we did it to some random chicks and the one girl like stood up and said "bring it on!" and her friend dunked her head into the water and we thought her hair would get stuck in the tracks and she'd drown...ill. and then! that one marine world worker by the tigers that was dancing and we tried to catch him on video by pretending to take a picture of erik and caroline with him in the background...oh man, ridiculous! and then i spent seventeen bucks on that airbrushed trucker hat and i don't even know where it is right now...rippin it off! that was quite enjoyable.

chapter 3: prizzin brake | 09.07

yeah i know this wasn't this past summer, but oh shoot...i miss this. and tani just lent me the dvd so i watched it in crystalline perfection...oh the facial expressions. so good, so good. but i remember this particular scene being very eventful...the one where veronica (?...tani's character) walks in on the four of us digging a hole and then she eventually becomes part of the plan for good. so i remember blogging about it way back in february 2008 but there's still stuff to say about it. i remember tani hitting kevin in the head with the shovel handle, and michael chai sniffing his armpit even though he didn't need to/have to...and i said "then they forgot about the creator and forgot about him," and the apple almost fell of the table, and ...oh boy, supah fun! miss that miss that

so i was talking with MasterNate last night and he told me he listened to this one pastor's sermons online...and that pastor's name was Francis Chan. and i was like "hold up! yo i've heard him speak before!" which is the stone cold truth! so nate sent me this one sermon and i listened to it at like 3 am, but it was really quite good. quite memorable and thought provoking...

so here's our man, franchan... if you google him this pops up somewhere...

i guess he makes videoblogs too.

and so somewhere in his message he was talking about james 1 and trials. and he used this metaphor of "testing" silver, which i really liked. so i wrote it down for you, fans...read it:

"...when you're surrounded by trials, you're being tested. and he says that's the only way you're going to build perseverance. this is how you can consider it joy because you realize that during that painful time you're being tested by God. and that phrase, i'm sure some of you have heard before, that the testing comes from the idea of the silversmiths, and how they would test silver. they'd put a bunch of silver in a pot and they would light this huge fire and then the silver would heat up and boil and get hot. and what happens when you heat up silver is all the impurities rise to the surface- all what they would call "the dross." all the junk, all the dirt, all the impure metals would rise to the top. and then the silversmith would take a scoop..er. i dunno what he used, but he would take that top...like i know...he just used...scuba gear. and he took that top layer off and he took the layer of the dross off. then what he would do is he would heat up that same silver again. again a little more dross would rise to the surface. he'd scoop it off. he'd do this over and over again. each time less and less impurities would rise to the top. and the way a silversmith could tell that his silver was pure or tested is that he would look down at the silver and he could see his own reflection. then he would know the silver's been tested"

so i guess you need to listen to the sermon to get some of the things (like the scuba gear)...so i guess tell me if you want me (or nate) to send it to you, then i'll know i actually have weblog readers.

i'm so happy to be on break right now. it's just a good feeling to come home to a seven foot christmas tree (when yo momma say she gonna get a four footer...no one can resist). i'm also glad to be done with school...classes ended last wednesday (the 10th*) so i had been bored out of my life studying for so many days. and it was so cold and dry i think i got a rash around my middle abdominal region (but please don't tell nobody). it's weird thinking i'm already 1/8 done with college...until i realize i still have 7/8 left to go.

but i'm def gonna miss people at berkeley. it's weird that everyone disperses for a month...i'm not used to the long distance thang. but i might be road trippang to LA in january! so who knows what might happen!

i'm looking forward to spending time with the fam and friends. and just being home.

my mom called me because our absentee ballots arrived back home. the parentals bounced on vacation yesterday morning to huh-vae-ee so they had to vote by mail also. but i had to take bart back to sf to pick up my vote-by-mail because i'm going on a retreat during this weekend so i needed to send it in today. so i took bart to sf, picked it up, got some coldstone, then came back.

and then saw hsm again...fasho fasho

then stopped for a lil treaty treat:

so yep! heading out to intervarsity retreat in a few hours...the theme is unexpected peace. i'm excited. should be fun.

oh yes! one last thing...today i woke up feeling very happy...and i think it was because of my dream... ever since riley kendall jang the queen was born i've been having random dreams about having a kid... but last night was the first time i had a son. yo this is weird, but deal with it. so my kid like looked like me, but you can tell he wasn't no carbon copy. and all i remember was that i was giving him a piggy back ride and he was probably like 4 and he was wearing a backwards baseball cap and he was sweating.

so excited for fatherhood, y'all!

yeah riley and her entourage came to visit berkeley yesterday...it was really fun. we ate at le petit cheval (like my 7th time in two weeks...but no one's complaining). and i'm serious, the service staff at Le Petit Cheval be surriously slacking. like clifton asked if we could have our drinks and then the waiter was like "Okay! just wait a second! we just had this huge DELUGE of people and it's been hard keeping up" (or something like that). so homey thought i'd be intimidated by his use of the word 'deluge' but i wasn't because clifton had access to a dictionary on his iPhone (sike he knew what it meant) and there were only 2 tables full of people in that joint...killing me. but the food and company was good...and riley's a homey. can't wait till she can give me a high five!

my weekend:

went to intervaristy's new student overnighter retreat on friday...was pretty fun. we slept on the floor of this church basement (which doubled as a preschool - shoutout to ctbc similarities). and i was sleeping in a sleeping bag i borrowed which played some tricks on my mind. then on sunday i checked out a church in berkeley... Living Water Fellowship. it was nice. a lot of singspiration. like 30 minute singspirations sandwich the sermon. a lot of praising...rediscovered "He Knows My Name" and sang "Your Love Never Fails"... which might be my new favorite song (and similar to judith's "Grace Never Fails" in name). then i came back to sf sunday night. and monday the whole fam went to Ton Kiang for some dim sum and then we went to the new academy of sciences...because my dad bought membership and today was preview day. it's cool...kinda bare. i miss the old one. new york's has more animals (like skunks!). came back to berksturbia (which is my new name for berkeley)
